CodeLagos kicked off a 3-day training for 1000 school teachers as part of preparation for the new term of CodeLagos In-School programme. The training commenced Wednesday September 19, 2018 in 9 centres across Lagos State.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh while presenting the status report and future projections for the CodeLagos project at a Stakeholders’ session on Tuesday had emphasized the commitment of the State Government to train and retrain CodeLagos facilitators for effective delivery of the Coding Education Framework to students in their various schools.
“We are increasing the number of primary and secondary schools participating in the programme from 337 to 1500 by December 2019. This facilitators’ training is for ICT teachers of some of these schools, including Government and private, who are set to start CodeLagos classes this new term. Classes in the new term would commence next week Monday.” Mr. Bank-Olemoh disclosed.
The teachers are trained to deliver the courses in the CodeLagos Framework including Scratch, Python, Alice and Greenfoot. Centres are located in Epe, Ajah, Onikan, Yaba, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Alimosho, Badagry and Oshodi.
The Facilitators’ training ends on Friday September 21, 2018.
