In order to reach the goal of the CodeLagos project, which is to train 1 million Lagosians to code by 2019, a very indispensable component of the project is a pool of competent, versatile and highly motivated training facilitators. This is why the Ministry of Education put together another CodeLagos Master Trainers’ workshop on Saturday August 26, 2017.
This workshop which held in two centres simultaneously – Akande Dahunsi Memorial Senior High School and Wahab Folawiyo Junior High school both in Ikoyi – is one of the steps towards the launch of the 2nd phase of the project slated for September 2017.
The workshop which had 39 persons in attendance for the 2-day practical training was aimed at equipping them with the needed knowledge; skills and competence not only to understand the CodeLagos Coding Education Framework (CEF) but to effectively impart the knowledge on others. In September, these Master Trainers will facilitate the training workshop for new facilitators to be onboarded for the phase 2 of project.
Meanwhile, registration for the free CodeLagos classes in the Out-of-School Coding centres is ongoing. These centres include public libraries and community centres and classes will be opened to members of the public who are not currently enrolled within the formal Education system in the State.
