As part of preparation to commence coding classes in Primary and Secondary schools in the new term, Lagos State Government held a master training programme for 214 CodeLagos facilitators to ensure they are better equipped to deliver the CodeLagos Coding Framework to students in their various schools.
The training which occurred simultaneously in 3 different centre; Alimosho, Badagry and Ajah was put together for existing CodeLagos facilitators who delivered the training in their various centres last year.
According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, these training serves as a refresher course for the facilitators. In his words, “we do not take training and retraining for granted. What these facilitators knew was good but we believe that our facilitators should always be abreast of current best practices as it relates to delivering coding education especially in areas covered in the CodeLagos Coding Framework.”
“Already, coding classes are going on smoothly in the 4 Out-of-School centres with over 500 students enrolled while plans are in their advanced stage to resume classes in Primary and Secondary schools across the State. Our plan is to have 400 centres running this new term.” Mr. Bank-Olemoh.
